Reproductive indices of Spotted Owls on the Cle Elum Study Area, 1989-2008


Notes:

Note the odd-even pattern in reproduction until 2001.

Note the sample size of owls we use to determine reproduction has declined as territories have become vacant.

Note we have not had a complete ‘bust’ repro year in the last 8 years.

Fecundity is the number of female young produced per female owl, assuming a 50:50 sex ratio among offspring (blood tests on juvenile owls have supported this assumption).
