Notes:

The tendency for rivers to support anadromous O. mykiss populations appears to be strongly related to variability in stream discharge. We examined flow variability from March to September using flow data from 2000 to 2007 from five different streams supporting different proportions of resident and anadromous O. mykiss. Rivers with less variable flow conditions through the spring and summer months tend to produce resident populations while rivers with highly variable flows tend to produce anadromous populations.
