Notes:
This map displays the primary results from our modeling exercise and shows patterns that are consistent with empirical observations of fish distribution and abundance in the Yakima River. Notice that a much greater proportion of total egg production comes from anadromous spawners in the lower tributaries (i.e., Toppenish and Satus Creeks), while resident egg production is greater in the Naches and Upper Yakima reaches. Tributary habitats tended to have habitat conditions which favored anadromy, while mainstem sites favored residency. Location in the basin also played an important role in determining life history diversity in the basin. Sites furthest from the ocean (i.e. Upper Yakima) tended to favor residency, even in sites where habitat conditions alone would probably favor anadromy (i.e. Taneum Creek).
