Hatchery- and wild-origin Chinook have similar spawning distributions at scales ≥ 1km
Hatchery- and wild-origin Chinook have similar spawning distributions at scales ≥ 1km
The influence of habitat factors on spawning site selection depends on spatial scale
Redd density is correlated with rainbow trout distribution at broad scales (4 km)
Notes:
To address our first objective of indentifying the spatial extent of redds and hatchery- or wild-origin spawners, we can safely say that they are nearly identical. Wild fish have one refuge above Lake Easton.
Our second objective of identifying habitat variables which may drive spawning site selection will require more investigation. The association is complicated between redd distribution and environmental variables. Channel complexity, pool/riffle ratio, and rainbow trout distribution may be valuable predictors.
