Explain

So you have you’re habitat time series for the flow regime being evaluated. So where did the habitat scores come from that we saw on the summary page a couple of slides ago?

The comparative habitat metric for the habitat time series is the average of the lowest 50% of the values in the time series during the appropriate hydroperiod. This is based on the paradigm that populations are regulated more by habitat restrictions (e.g., the troughs beneath the time series curve) than by periods of “excess” habitat. Fifty is just the percentage we chose as a reasonable comparative statistic. It is not set in stone and can be changed if desired. The scores on the summary page represent the percent change in the occurrence of these limiting habitat events. If it is a positive number, whatever alternative you have run has improved habitat conditions, negative and the alternative has taken you in a direction you really did not want to go.
