Yakima Valley riparian shrubland, wetlands and floodplain shrub-steppe historically formed rich mosaic of habitats.

Main goals of the BPA project are:
1) Habitat Protection through land acquisition or long-term lease
-- over 21,000 acres in program
-- priority are riparian corridors and wetlands

-- Currently working on floodplain habitat restoration on just under 1000 acres (all stages of restoration) in red

-- approximately 1000 additional acres of floodplain where restoration has occurred to date.
-- Increasing sites with restoration activities by approximately 300-500 new acres per year within acquired properties.

Objectives for floodplain restoration
Improve wildlife habitat
Reduce long-term weed concerns
Reduce sediment loss (bare soil) through establishment of perennial vegetation
