Washington Rivers Conservancy promotes and works with others to develop effective policies and programs to ensure Washington’s rivers and streams are healthy while benefiting agriculture, fisheries, water quality, and other community values. Our primary initiative is our water rights acquisition program working with local communities to enhance stream flows through voluntary, incentive and market based solutions. We link our policy initiatives to our fieldwork so that programs work well on the ground and benefit landowners, water users, and instream flows. In addressing instream flow issues across the state WRC seeks the active engagement of the agricultural community, including individual farmers, irrigation districts and canal companies. WRC partners with landowners, conservation districts, tribes, land trusts, state and federal agencies to ensure projects have economic, environmental and social benefits for communities across Washington.
